This program was formulated in Melbourne by Dr. Alan Ong, a victim of male pattern baldness himself. Now, this program is available in Australia and overseas through Bioscor International. Bioscor International offers a highly effective medically supervised natural hair regrowth program with NO surgery involved. Since 1992, The Aesthetic Laser Centre has been working with Bioscor International to provide clients with this natural hair regrowth program.

Understanding Hair Loss
All forms of non-scarring alopecia can be treated by Bioscor hair regrowth program. The most common form of hair loss is Androgenetic Alopecia, also known as genetic hair loss, or male/female pattern baldness, and it affects many men and women of various ages. It is a hair loss condition caused by a combination of genetics and hormones. When the hormone, testosterone, is converted by an enzyme (5-alpha reductase) it becomes a more potent hormone known as Dihydrotestorone (DHT).
DHT initiates a process of follicular miniaturisation, in which the hair follicle begins to deteriorate. Affected follicles become progressively smaller and hairs are reduced to tiny vellus hairs and eventually fail to grow. It is a genetic trait as you may have inherited genes that make you more sensitive to DHT. Bioscor’s Natural Hair Regrowth Program is specifically designed to counteract the effects of DHT and rejuvenate your follicles to produce thicker, healthier hair.
Androgenetic Alopecia can present itself in various patterns. This scale shows five different patterns of balding, depicting global diversity in receding patterns.
Autoimmune Causes Of Hairloss
Alopecia Areata is characterized by a rather sudden development of bald patches on the scalp, face or body.
It is widely believed to be caused by the body’s immune system; attacking the hair follicles due to its inability to differentiate between foreign invaders and normal healthy cells. Predisposing genetic factors, a cell-based autoimmune response, association with autoimmune diseases (e.g. vitiligo, thyroid disease), and external triggers (e.g. psychological problems, stress, etc) may all contribute to the pathogenesis of the disease.
The initial sign is generally an asymptomatic smooth round or oval bald patch (es) on the scalp and/or body. This when left untreated will usually grow larger with time. This type of hair loss can occur at any age and can affect the young as well as old.
- Alopecia totalis refers to total hair loss on the scalp
- Alopecia universalis is complete loss of hair on scalp and body
Other Causes of Hair Loss
Bioscor’s hair program can also be tailored to effectively treat other forms of non-scarring Alopecia:
- Telogen Effluvium – (e.g. Emotional stress, major illness, childbirth, rapid weight loss or major surgery)
- Nutritional and mineral deficiencies (e.g. Dieting, Iron deficiency)
- Bacterial & Fungal Infections (e.g. Tinea Capitis)
- Hormonal dysfunction (e.g. Hypothyroidism)
- Pressure and Traction Alopecia (e.g. Pulling of the hair)
- Adverse drug reaction
On your first consultation, our hair specialists will be able to assess the cause of hair loss from physical examination and blood test results. We will work with you towards understanding the underlying cause of your hair loss and effectively tailoring your treatment to normalise the hair growth cycle.
Our Hair Regrowth program is targeted at directly inhibiting the cause of your hair loss and stimulating regrowth activity. The program involves the following:
- A simple to use home product kit
- Monthly in-house treatments aimed to kick-start and maximise the regrowth process
- If necessary, doctor-prescribed oral medications
Home Product Kit
This hair regrowth home product kit is designed to be hassle-free with very few small steps involved. As everybody is different, our program can be tailored to suit specific individual needs, but for most the product kit contains:
- A specially formulated topical solution to promote new regrowth;
- Essential vitamins to prevent hair from becoming brittle and breaking easily;
- Daily haircare products formulated to effectively remove excess sebum and dead skin cells that can clog follicles.
In-House Hair Treatment
A relaxing treatment performed at our clinics aimed at ultra-cleansing the scalp to remove excess sebum and to open up pores to allow maximum absorption of the products into the hair follicles. Agents to counteract the effects of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are then deposited into the pores to stimulate hair follicular activity. A scalp massage and laser diode are then used to stimulate blood circulation in the scalp bringing oxygen and nutrients necessary for healthy hair regrowth.
Beneficial results should be visible within 3-4 months. The duration of the treatment will vary depending on the cause of hair loss. Hair loss associated with stress or as a consequence of general medical or a local scalp problem usually does not require maintenance treatment once causative factors are dealt with. However, androgenetic alopecia (e.g. male pattern baldness) will normally require on-going maintenance.
The effectiveness of the program can be affected by the following factors:
- Severity of Hair Loss
- Genetic Predisposition
- Compliance to the program
Don’t wait till too much damage has been done. Early treatment has higher chances of success.
