Understanding Hair Loss

Androgenetic Alopecia

All forms of non-scarring alopecia can be treated by Bioscor hair regrowth program. The most common form of hair loss is Androgenetic Alopecia, also known as genetic hair loss, or male/female pattern baldness, and it affects many men and women of various ages. It is a hair loss condition caused by a combination of genetics and hormones. When the hormone, testosterone, is converted by an enzyme (5-alpha reductase) it becomes a more potent hormone known as Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

DHT initiates a process of follicular miniaturisation, in which the hair follicle begins to deteriorate. Affected follicles become progressively smaller and hairs are reduced to tiny vellus hairs and eventually fail to grow. It is a genetic trait as you may have inherited genes that make you more sensitive to DHT. Bioscor’s Natural Hair Regrowth Program is specifically designed to counteract the effects of DHT and rejuvenate your follicles to produce thicker, healthier hair.

Autoimmune Causes Of Hairloss

Alopecia Areata is characterized by a rather sudden development of bald patches on the scalp, face or body.

It is widely believed to be caused by the body’s immune system; attacking the hair follicles due to its inability to differentiate between foreign invaders and normal healthy cells. Predisposing genetic factors, a cell-based autoimmune response, association with autoimmune diseases (e.g. vitiligo, thyroid disease), and external triggers (e.g. psychological problems, stress, etc) may all contribute to the pathogenesis of the disease.

The initial sign is generally an asymptomatic smooth round or oval bald patch (es) on the scalp and/or body. This when left untreated will usually grow larger with time. This type of hair loss can occur at any age and can affect the young as well as old.

• Alopecia Universalis is the complete loss of hair on scalp and body
